Snowshoe Hike To The Peak
Are you ready for a showshoe adventure??
Saturday, March 4th 2017 - Begins In The Park at
1pm-4pm. You may bring your own pair of snowshoes if you have them, but we will
provide snowshoes for those who need them. Please, no children under the age of
12. Register for this free event by calling Glacial Lakes State Park

Discription
Meet us at the Park Contact Station for this 2 mile
(3hr) hike to the highest point in Glacial Lakes State Park.
Not recommended for young children.
Rental of snowshoes will be available for $6 per day.
Please call the park office to reserve the correct
sizes. (320-239-2860)

2017
- 8th Annual Easter Egg Hunt Park permits are
required
Saturday, April 15th
from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm Easter Egg Hunt begins at
2:00 pm SHARP Group A - Pre-schoolers Group B - K - 3rd Grade
Group C - Grades 4 to Grades 6 will have a separate challenge to
complete to earn candy and a chance at other prizes.

A Park Naturalist Animal Program will follow the Easter Egg
Hunt
This program is only opened to the
elementry age children
Hot cocoa and treats
will be served at the Group Camp Shelter after the egg hunt. Last year 3,000 egss were hidden. Make sure to arrive early to get a park permit ($5 day, $25
annual) and walk to the egg hunt site
3 - 4 Prizes to be given to each age group

National Get Outdoors Day
Saturday, June 10th 2017 DNR Program
Discription
"Celebrate "National Get Outdoors Day" at Glacial Lakes
State Park. On this day, vehicle permits are not required to enter the park.
Come explore the park, go for a hike, fish, swim, or have a picnic on your
own."

The Friends of Glacial Lakes State Park will be serving
Turkey Bergers and a beverage to visitors and campers in Glacial Lakes State
Park from 12 noon to 2: 00 pm
The Friends of Glacial Lakes State Park also have 3
prize drawings during this time

Stargazing - 2017

Glacial Lakes Astronomers and Stargazers
Society (GLASS) will host a series of stargazing events
at the park this summer.
Starting on April 22nd and running to October 7th
(weather permitting). Beginning at dusk and ending a few hours later. All
interested people are to meet in the horse camp area.
Please contact the park for any further questions
regarding these programs at (320) 239-2860. Meet at the Horse Camp at dusk,
weather permitting. If it is not raining, but cloudy,
G.L.A.S.S. will still be there to do a
program on our night sky. No equipment is necessary, but if you have binoculars
or a telescope you are highly encouraged to bring them!

Bio Blitz

Discription
A "BioBlitz" is an intense period of biological
surveying in an attempt to record all the living species within a designated
area. We need scientists, naturalists and volunteers to conduct an
organized field study where we identify, count and record native flora and
fauna using I-Naturalist.

area
DNR Program
Discription
Meet at the picnic tables by the beach area for a
different nature program every other Wednesday in June, July and August.
These programs are designed for children
aged 5-15, but all are welcome. We will be exploring
topics like frogs and toads, insects, fish, and more. Call the park or check
online for more specific information regarding a specific date.
Please call the park for more information and to register for this
event. A MN state park vehicle permit is required to attend this
event. Permits can be purchased at the park office for $5/day or
$25/annual.
