Snowshoe Hike To The Peak
Are you ready for a showshoe adventure??
Saturday, February 1st 2014 - Begins In The Park
at 1pm-4pm. You may bring your own pair of snowshoes if you have them, but we
will provide snowshoes for those who need them. Please, no children under the
age of 12. Register for this free event by calling Glacial Lakes State Park

Are you ready for a showshoe adventure??
Meet us at the Park Contact Station for this 2 mile
(3hr) hike to the highest point in Glacial Lakes State Park.
Not recommended for young children.
Rental of snowshoes will be available for $6 per day.
Please call the park office to reserve the correct

On this day, all state parks are open to the
public without charge
The Friends of Glacial Lakes State Park will be serving
Turkey Bergers and a beverage to visitors and campers in Glacial Lakes State
Park from 12 noon to 2 :00 pm
The Friends of Glacial Lakes State Park also have 3
prize drawings during this time

Stargazing - 2014

Glacial Lakes Astronomers and Stargazers
Society (GLASS) will host a series of stargazing events
at the park this summer. Our public
stargazing events are held on most Saturdays at Glacial Lakes State Park.
PLEASE call the park (320-239-2860) or email us to be sure we will be there on
a given Saturday. Our "go/no
go" policy is, if it is raining, the event will not be held. If it is overcast
but not raining, someone will show up. Dusk is after 9pm now and we usually start setting up about 1/2
hour before sunset.
Starting in April and running untill late Fall these
events will be scheduled for the 1st Saturday of each month (weather
permitting). Beginning at dusk and ending a few hours later. All interested
people are to meet in the horse camp area approximate times are listed
below.

Story Time In The Park
From 10:00 am to 11:00 am
Come out to the park for
a nature themed story time and activity. This program is designed for
pre-school to early elementary school students, but all are welcome.

near the beach to learn canoeing basics from a Naturalist. We will cover safety,
parts of the canoe and paddles, and learn strokes before heading out on to the
water to practice our skills. Equipment will be provided, so come enjoy a paddle on
a quite lake. CALL OR STOP BY THE PARK OFFICE TO REGISTER AHEAD OF TIME AS SPACE
IS LIMITED.

I Can Paddleboard
Saturday, June 21st
From 9:00 am to 10:30 am
From 11:00 am to 12:30 pm
From 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm Meet at the beach to
learn stand up paddle boarding basics from an instructor. They will cover safety,
parts of the board and paddles, and learn strokes before heading out on to the
water to practice our skills. Equipment will be provided, so come enjoy a paddle on
a quite lake. CONTACT THE RESERVATION CENTER TO REGISTER FOR THIS PROGAM AS IT

Wild Wednesday

Archery In The Park
Saturday, July 12th
And
Saturday, August 23rd
From 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Beginners can learn from
trained archery instructors who will be on hand to teach the basics of shooting
a bow. No experience is needed. No reservation is required, but groups
over 10 should call to arrange a separate time. All equipment and
instruction is provided for free. Stop in anytime during the workshop hours.
Children must be at least 8 years old to participate, and anyone
under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.program.

Evening Camp Fire Program

From 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm Join a naturalist at the
Council Ring at 7:00 pm for a nature program by the campfire.
This
nature themed, family friendly program is a great way to enrich your day. Call
the park for current topics or for more information. Children must be
accompanied by an adult.
